Day 0: The Staging Ground | Negombo
Arriving at Katunayake airport, you will be transferred to the hotel where you can enjoy the interesting coastal town of Negombo. As the first exercise, you will visit the fishing village and return to rest. Overnight stay in Negombo.
Day 1: The Vertical Push | Negombo to Nuwara Eliya
Following a delectable breakfast, depart from Negombo and embark on your scenic journey towards Kandy. En route, delve into the world of elephant conservation with a visit to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, the world’s largest sanctuary for orphaned elephants. Witness these majestic creatures being bottle-fed, participate in an optional mud bath experience, and gain valuable insights into the ongoing efforts to protect this endangered species. Continue your scenic ride up the mountains, enjoying breathtaking views and cooler climes as you reach Nuwara Eliya. Day 2: The Prehistoric Plateau | Nuwara Eliya to Ella
After a nourishing breakfast, bid farewell to Ella and set off towards Horton’s Plains. Take a fascinating detour to the historical Abewela Milk Factory, one of Sri Lanka’s oldest and most esteemed dairy establishments. Unravel the captivating story behind milk production in the region and indulge in a refreshing cup of authentic Sri Lankan tea. Today’s ride promises breathtaking vistas as you traverse landscapes adorned with lush tea plantations and majestic mountains. Horton Plains is home to a remarkable array of flora and fauna, much of which is endemic to Sri Lanka. The park boasts a mosaic of habitats, ranging from cloud forests to montane grasslands, which support a rich diversity of plant and animal life. Notable species include the Sri Lankan sambar deer, purple-faced langur, Sri Lankan leopard, and a variety of endemic bird species such as the Sri Lanka whistling thrush and the Sri Lanka bush warbler. Day 3: Ella - Negombo Via Kitulgala
