Day 0: The Staging Ground | Negombo
Touchdown: Arrival at the Negombo outpost. Your 4x4 rigs will be prepped and waiting. The Shakedown: A late afternoon sand-track run along the Negombo coastline and through the back-alleys of the historic Dutch Fort. It’s the perfect chance to test your vehicle’s clearance and throttle response. The Briefing: Meet your lead navigator over a fresh seafood feast to discuss the technical "B-roads" we’ll be using to bypass the traffic
Day 1: The Foothill Incursion | Negombo to Kandy
Morning Departure: Our journey commences with an early morning departure from Negombo, setting off towards the cultural gem of Kandy. Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage: En route, we make a poignant stop at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, witnessing firsthand the dedicated care provided to rescued and orphaned elephants. Kandy Arrival: As we arrive in Kandy, the afternoon unfolds with exploration of the city’s vibrant streets, culminating in a visit to the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic (Dalada Maligawa). Experience a captivating performance of the traditional Kandyan dance, immersing yourself in the city’s cultural tapestry.
Day 2: The Dumbara Passage | Kandy to Sigiriya
Scenic Route: Today’s ride presents a scenic escape from Kandy, taking us through the picturesque villages of Hettipola and Bakamuna. As we navigate this enchanting byway, breathtaking vistas of the Knuckles Mountain Range will unfold before us, offering a glimpse into Sri Lanka’s verdant landscapes. Sigiriya Arrival: Upon reaching Sigiriya in the afternoon, check-in to your hotel and enjoy some leisure time, taking advantage of the hotel’s amenities or exploring the local town.
Day 3: The Citadel Ascent & The Final Push | Sigiriya to Negombo
Early Ascent: Rise with the sun and embark on the highlight of the tour – the ascent of the majestic Sigiriya Lion Rock, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Conquer the 1,200 steps leading to the summit, and be rewarded with panoramic vistas and the awe-inspiring historical ruins that adorn this ancient rock fortress. Return to Negombo: Following your descent, we commence our journey back to Negombo, making a stop for lunch along the way. The evening allows for reflection on the memories created during this exhilarating adventure, offering a chance to unwind on the beach before your departure.
